Maths

Money
The children will be learning to count pounds and pence and select the correct amount of money. They will also be learning to compare money, find the total and the difference to relate this to real life problem solving and finding the correct change.

Length& Height
For this unit the children will be learning to measure accurately as well as compare and order different units of measure.
Mass, Capacity & Temperature
The children will be learning to measure and compare mass, capacity and temperature. They will be learning the correct units of measure for this.

English

The children will be developing their independent writing, grammar and punctuation skills by planning and writing non-chronological reports, stories and persuasive letters. We will read together James and the Giant Peach by Roald Dahl and explore their independent reading by writing a revisit of character descriptions.

Read, Write, Inc.

Children receive phonics tuition in small ability groups for 40 minutes from Monday to Thursday. Two books are sent home weekly to read daily at home. One book is their colour coded RWI book including the sounds that they have been working on that week and the other is a 'share with me book' from our class library for children to attempt to read or get read to.
